Entry Level Painting

Learn how to paint and draw, step by step, stroke by stroke at your pace.

Entry Level Painting

Have you always wanted to learn how to draw and paint, but didn't know where to start?

Join our four-week entry-level course on the basic principles involved in drawing and painting. Study focus in a range of commonly used media.

During this course, we will visit the same scene with four different painting and drawing media. Each week, you will learn a new principle through techniques and demonstrated processes. Your work will be supported through the structures of the assignment. Each assignment, where possible, will focus on placement, proportion, perspective, value, colour and edge quality.

The aim of this course is to facilitate an easier transition to our moderate and advanced level Painting and Drawing: Master Studies and Watercolours class.

But there's no rush 'graduate', every four-week cycle will contain a different study theme. So you can take the course as many times as you'd like until you feel ready to try something different. Remember, everyone is different and it's ok to take things at your own pace."
