Pilates Barre

A slower paced, low impact class that uses isometric contractions to strengthen your muscles. In learning Barre technique, you can expect to become more aware of your body alignment and increase your mind to body connection. Modifications provided throughout as well as progressions.

Barre Pilates classes take the basic foundations of Pilates and combine them with ballet-inspired moves, like plies and attitudes, and incorporate elements of dance, yoga and strength training.

Barre helps strengthen and tone your muscles without increasing bulk, and it improves your posture.  Regular barre workouts can increase your bone density, which can help prevent conditions like osteoporosis.

Benefits of mat pilates, a muscle-strengthening exercise, include:

  • Improving cardiovascular fitness
  • Improving strength

  • Improving flexibility
  • Maintaining cognition
  • Reducing fatigue
  • Improving energy
  • Reducing symptoms of anxiety

WHO recommends that all adults should do muscle-strengthening exercise on at least 2 days each week. If you are new to any exercise, start by doing small amounts and adjust how much you do based on your fitness and strength levels.

Chloe Burton
Chloe is a Barre Instructor and Personal Trainer based in London. She trained at a high level from a very young age in Ballroom and Latin before expanding into Ballet, Jazz and Musical Theatre. Since graduating she has expanded into the fitness world, working at some of London's leading studios. It is here she has found her love for movement and can't wait to share that with you. You can expect to learn some new movements in Chloe's classes alongside the familiar classics. All of which will help to strengthen your mind and body and aid in you in your day to day life. Chloe likes to remind herself of the quote "get comfortable being uncomfortable" as it allows her the space to grow and improve when things seem tough. See you at the barre (chair)!
