This has set the tempo for maintaining one of Britain’s most treasured cultural heritages into the next century as well as ensuring the future of the great British artists who appear in them. Master of the House charts the fascinating history of his eight historic London buildings – their origins, their iconic shows and productions, the stars and the glamour.  In conversation with Humphrey Hawksley Michael Coveney will put into focus these theatres’ vital role in the history of British theatre over the last 100 years and reveal more of his career as chronicler of creative Britain, its arts, buildings, tensions and stars.
